don't waste your money

我哥哥她是iMac和Macbook Pro，只有光纖輸出。
而且測試結果輸出能力實在有點差。(比USB差)
而且他當時也買得比較便宜。
所以大大比較推薦買張音效卡然後買DAC-1就好嗎？
樓上的大大蠻推薦USB的方便性的。實在難以選擇。
畢竟差了一萬啊！

i use a dac1 pre and prefer the sound using coax iuput over that using usb input
i use a cheap (20 usd, used) philips dvd player's coax to feed the dac1 pre
the coax cable is 80 usd
the usb cable i use is 340 usd (locus design polestar), but coax still wins - the difference is small though
i have no experience with any sound cards
but its nice and convenient to have usb input

之前用過0404同軸接到USB DAC-1
聲底跟USB不太一樣
0404進來的聲底比較冷
USB進來的聲底比較暖
還是看個人喜好吧
我後來是把0404賣掉就是
雖然usb貴了快一萬
別忘記1212m也要五六千？(憑印象)

如果以後有機會用筆記型電腦的話可以再好好考慮
一年前測試的，印象有錯不要鞭太大力

The answer to both of your question is yes. The Polestar USB cable was worth it. I had 30 days to audition it, but it didn't take me nearly that long to decide. Also, I got one at introductory price.
I noticed the DAC1 PRE's USB performance was significantly behind its coax performance; however, with the Polestar, the gap is much smaller.

$350 is the current price. I liked the convenience of USB, so I looked for ways to improve PRE's USB performance. I understand why you are skeptical; you might want to go to Locus Design website and read about the USB cables if you are so inclined (note those Positive Feedback Online reviews were published after I bought mine).
My setup list changes often, but at the time I got the cable, I was using Luxman P-1 with HD650 + Equinox. Also a Magnum Dynalab tuner that goes into the analog input of the PRE. And of course the proper signal and power cables and power conditioning.
From time to time you might be pleasantly surprised by some seemingly absurd things. Devices like Boston Audio's Tuneblocks and Shunyata's Dark Field cable elevators are such examples.

Don't be mistaken though; I am not skeptical about high-end cables, I am just too poor to get my hands on such luxuries

I am sure that being able to enjoy the marvelous equipment/gadgets/cables you have mentioned is terrific, but it is also equally important to make do with what I can afford and what I have got. (If you detected a note of envy/jealousy in my words, please do pardon me )

My existing setup is PC (onboard optical out/coax) - M902 - RS1/GSK; I couldn't afford fancy cables (at least not at the moment) but I am quite darn happy with it, so all's well.

You are exactly right: note I said I have no experience with any (fancy) sound cards, and the statement should have served as adequate disclaimer/notice as to the extent my experience relates to OP's situation.

While I understand the my example is not completely analogous to OP's situation, I think there is still some value in my experience to the OP because my DVD player is a generic one (I think it was something like $60-$70 new) and I imagine the specialty sound card will match or exceed the performance of an old and generic Philips DVD player's coax output.

The USB input sounds slightly harder to me, especially when using a generic USB cable.
